Call for Research Abstracts For Poster Presentation

 Please review this submission FAQ before submitting your research abstract. It outlines the requirements, deadlines, and other aspects of the poster presentation.

AIHM welcomes poster abstract submissions for the upcoming 2024 AIHM First Whole Health Conference, which will be held October 25-27, 2024, in San Diego, CA. We are pleased to receive abstracts on integrative health and medicine, Whole Health, naturopathic medicine, chiropractic care, holistic nursing, mind-body research, acupuncture, consciousness and spirit, public health and policy related to integrative whole health and medicine, or other relevant topics.

If your abstract is selected, you will be welcome to participate in the Poster Session portion of our program.

Abstract Categories

To be considered for the Research Poster Session at the AIHM Conference, researchers must submit an abstract, which will be peer-reviewed by the AIHM Research Working Group. Abstracts may be submitted in any of the following categories:

Research—This includes basic science (fundamental or bench research), observational research, clinical trials, and health services (including cost-effectiveness studies).

Clinical Innovations—This includes case reports or practice-based models, including all integrative models. Case report submissions must follow standard case-report format.

Education—This includes innovative training and/or educational models or programs that highlight Whole Health, interprofessional education, curriculum, or faculty development in integrative health, including global service projects.

Policy—This includes national or global policies supporting integrative and Whole Health, policies to address health disparities, and policies to serve underserved populations.

Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion—This includes efforts to support the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in integrative Whole Health.

Abstract Submission Process

Abstracts must be submitted via the online form in one of the five categories outlined above. Submissions will be reviewed by the interprofessional AIHM research abstract review committee. We will strive to respond as soon as
practical with your abstract decision.

The Application requires:

1. A lead author (co-authors can be listed on a poster if relevant, but the lead author is responsible for communicating with AIHM and attending the conference if accepted)
2. A short and descriptive title
3. A clear and concise abstract including Background and Purpose, Methods and Design, Data and Results, and Conclusions. Include a short list of (a maximum of 3) appropriate references.
4. Incomplete or partial submissions will NOT be saved in our system, so only begin once you have collected all the necessary information.

Please proofread your abstract before submitting it—spelling and grammar count.

Who reviews my Abstract and Judges Accepted Posters?

The AIHM Research Poster Review Committee will rate all abstracts for acceptance and then judge all posters at the conference. Our committee is made up of an interprofessional team of scientists experienced in integrative whole- person care and related topics.

Prizes & Acknowledgements

1. The top 7 selected posters not authored by students will receive a letter of commendation and be highlighted in future AIHM newsletters.
2. The top 3 posters by student authors will receive a letter of commendation and be highlighted in future AIHM newsletters.
3. All 10 (7+3) top posters will be verbally recognized at the conference.
4. All accepted poster abstracts will be displayed on the AIHM conference website.

Do I need to also register for the conference?
Yes. Should your abstract be accepted, you will need to register for the conference. You will receive a code for a discount of $100 off your AIHM Member, Non-member or Student rate depending on which applies to you.

If accepted, what will I need to present my poster?
Selected abstracts will be physically presented in standard 4’X5’ poster format at the conference.
